Bramley C of E Infant and Nursery School is an academy in the Good Shepherd Trust (GST).

The GST is a multi-academy trust (MAT) within the Diocese of Guildford. More information about the GST can be found here. 

The functions of the Trust Board of the Good Shepherd Trust are to lead strategy development, hold the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and his team to account, operate within financial constraints, define an overall vision for GST schools, meet the governance compliance required by law and create a strong, effective governance structure on the board and in schools. The members of the LC, the Headteacher and staff work together constantly to improve the quality of the education we provide to our children and to promote Christian values in all aspects of school life.

All LC members are appointed by the Trust and are expected to perform their duties in accordance with a Code of Conduct. Declarations of interest are declared and reviewed at each LC meeting and are available to view at the bottom of this page.

What does an LC do?

The Trust has given the Local Committee (LC) a scheme of delegation which shows what the LC is responsible for. 

What are the different types of membership?

• Headteacher (ex-officio);
• Parent members, elected by parents of registered pupils at the academy and must be a parent of a pupil at the academy at the time of the election, or appointed by the GST;
• Staff elected member, one member of the school staff from each school as a representative of the staff, normally appointed by ballot;
• General members.

A term of office for a local committee member is four years and a local committee member may serve two terms (8 years) if eligible – parents/staff would have to be re-elected to be eligible.

Shelley Collinson: Chair of Local Committee

Both my children attended Bramley Infant and Nursery school, starting in Pre-School (before the nursery was built) and finishing at the end of year 2. They really enjoyed their time at Bramley and still look back with fond memories. As parents, my husband and I also found the school pivotal in connecting us to so many families in the village, something I feel is special and unique to Bramley.

My main reason for becoming a LC member was simply to help ensure the school continues to run in the future so that children and parents alike can also benefit from everything Bramley school has to offer.

Coming from a financial services background, I find the education system an entirely different challenge, but I enjoy collaborating with the staff at Bramley school to navigate our way and provide the children with the best educational provision possible.

Emily Jefford: General LC member

My name is Emily Jefford. I have taken on the role as a LC member to share my professional skills and knowledge that will benefit the children, and am motivated by the opportunity this gives me to be part of and contribute to the development of the school.

I trained as a Norland Nanny and cared for children from birth to 10 years old.  I furthered my experience working as a Nursery Practitioner and then as a Teaching Assistant.  A passion in the early development and education of children led me to complete a BA Hons in Early Years Teaching. 

After working at Cranmore School, I joined St Catherine’s in 2017.  As Deputy Head, Head of Pre-Prep, I look after all of the Pre-Prep team and have the joy of teaching a Reception class. 

At the weekends, I enjoy open water swimming, running, and spending time with my nephews and niece.

 

Jane Wingfield: General LC member

Having graduated from Edinburgh University, I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor at Jones Lang LaSalle and spent several years working for Kingfisher as part of their retail development scheme prior to specialising in Retail Warehouse Investment at Savills and becoming a Director. We then moved to Abu Dhabi in 2009, where I had a second and third child. In 2014, we relocated to London and I worked for Share Community, a charity that supports adults with learning difficulties before coming to Surrey in 2020.

I wanted to be a Bramley LC member so I could contribute to our community by helping to support the local school.  Whilst in the Middle East, I worked at the British International School as a lab technician which allowed me to experience an educational setting behind the scenes, giving me a different perspective to my current role as a parent of three school age children.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, hot yoga and baking.

 

Catherine Ingram Smith: General LC member

My name is Catherine Ingram Smith. I was originally a foundation Governor, appointed by Holy Trinity Church, Bramley, since March 2020 and am now a general LC member.

After a challenging start because of the pandemic restrictions, it has been a real joy to visit and learn more about the school, which is a very special place and a significant part of Bramley’s community. Having worked in educational support for many years (currently at Charterhouse), I believe that I have something positive to offer.

I am the link member for Special Educational Needs and Early Years.

 

Richard Stebbings: Parent LC member

I joined as a parent LC member in September 2022 and have two children one still at Bramley School in reception and one that has recently left. I work as a lawyer at a software company, having previously worked in health policy and industrial relations. We moved to the area in 2021 from London and found Bramley School to be an incredibly welcoming community; offering a nurturing and happy learning environment for our children. As a LC member I hope to ensure that the school provides the same experience to future children.

 

Andrew Pote: Parent LC member

After graduating from Leeds with a degree in engineering I spent several years in the aerospace and automotive industries around Manchester and Coventry before setting up my own company and moving to London in 2001. Shortly afterwards I met my wife and when our first child was born in 2018, we made a decision to leave London and finally arrived in Bramley in 2021 after the birth of our second child.

Both our children are now at Bramley School with one in pre-school and the other in reception. They have both loved attending the school from day one and we have enjoyed meeting the other children and parents from the village which has a lovely community spirit. My reason for standing as a parent LC member was to assist the school in any way that I could to ensure that future children and families of Bramley could have the same experience.

 

Kathryn Pool: General LC member

My name is Kathryn Pool, I am married, and a proud parent of two children, both of whom were lucky enough to start their schooling at Bramley. My son started at Reception and progressed all the way through to Year 2, whilst my daughter, joined in Nursery, then Pre-school and continued all the way through to Year 2.

I work full-time as a Regional Sales Director for a Software company and have accumulated over 25 years of sales, negotiation, and leadership experience in the IT industry both in the UK and in Germany.

My motivation to become a LC member, being new to the Education sector, was a chance to learn about the inner workings of the school, and to support the staff and the school to continue to be an integral part of our village community, educating our children for years to come.

I fill my weekends with walks with my family and dog in the glorious Surrey Hills, cycling, enjoying family days out, and socialising with friends.

 

 Paul Glynn: General LC member

My twins both went to Bramley School through to Year 2; they loved every minute of it and thrived in the nurturing environment. As parents, my wife and I enjoyed the inclusive, community-focused feel of the school.

I have worked as a Chartered Accountant for nearly 30 years and started an accountancy business based in Guildford when my kids were born. When I was asked if I would be interested in taking on a school governance role, I saw it as an opportunity to learn about the education sector whilst supporting an excellent school so that other children could benefit from the experience that my kids had.

Having joined the school in 2004, I am currently the Year One teacher and staff LC member since 2019.
