Many families increase their child’s attendance at nursery as they move into the preschool class. An increase in the number of days children attend can help prepare them for the transition to ‘big school’. Three and four year olds are especially keen to develop their social skills and a preschool environment can support this development especially well. Children also benefit from the expansive learning through play opportunities that a highly qualified early years professional teacher can provide, ensuring they leave for school well prepared socially, academically and emotionally.
Pre School Themes for 2017/2018
Our topics start in the Autumn term with learning all about me, my family and the community we live in as well as celebrating Harvest. In the second half of the term we will investigate light and dark. We will also look at different celebrations and enjoy learning about Christmas.
At the beginning of the Spring term, traditional tales will provide the stimulus for our learning, whilst in the second half of the term we will explore the theme of ‘The Woods’. We will also begin to think about different forms of new life; from seeds to flowers or tadpoles to frogs and will include the religious aspects of Easter.
During the Summer term we will learn about the importance of sports, health and taking care of our bodies. Building up to the holidays we will find out about different countries, encompassing different cultures and languages. (These topics could change over the year.)
